Expresses observable signs of emotions or sensations in others.

Formation

[い-adj stem/たい-stem] + がる

Examples

子供が怖がっています。

Kodomo ga kowagatte imasu.

The child is showing signs of fear / is afraid.

彼女は寒がっている。

Kanojo wa samugatte iru.

She appears to be cold.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Only use for observable emotions/sensations in third person.
