Formation

[Verb た form] + とたん(に)

Examples

ドアを開けたとたん、猫が飛び出した。

Doa wo aketa totan, neko ga tobidashita.

The moment I opened the door, the cat jumped out.

電話を切ったとたんに、また鳴った。

Denwa wo kitta totan ni, mata natta.

Just as I hung up, it rang again.
