First-Hand Experience
Genki Iに続き、すぐにGenki IIを始め、5ヶ月(2019年8月-12月)かけて完了しました。本の間の難易度の跳躍は顕著でしたが、管理可能でした。第13課ではすぐに可能形や意志形を含む複数の新しい文法パターンが導入され(26-32ページ)、最初は圧倒的でしたが、練習問題の後は自然になりました。特に第16課の敬語セクション(98-105ページ)が、敬語を単に活用を列挙するのではなく、実用的に説明していた点を高く評価しました。読解文は長さが大幅に増加し、第20課までに400文字以上の文章を快適に読めるようになりました。混乱したときのより深い説明のために、Genki IIと「Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar」を並行して使用しました。第18課の授受動詞のセクション(142-148ページ)で、悪名高く混乱するあげる・くれる・もらうの区別が、ワークブックのすべての練習問題に取り組んだ後、ついに理解できました。付属の読解問題でテストすると着実な進歩が見られました。第13課では60%の理解度でしたが、第23課までに85%以上になりました。
